Be Optimistic

If you realized how powerful your thoughts are, you would never think a negative thought. -Peace Pilgrim

Happy new week to you all!

I intend that all of you have started this week with a bright and positive mindset no matter what situation is thrown at you.

Our minds are truly amazing tools, they give us the power to chose positive thoughts that can lift us up over those negative thoughts that can bring us down. It definitely isn’t an easy habit to form, especially when there are millions of thoughts we can choose from.

Throughout the day, repeat simple affirmations to bring your spirits up such as, “I am confident and intelligent” and when you repeat these affirmations, believe it to be true. If you catch yourself thinking a negative thought, immediately come back to the resent moment and say something to counteract that negative thought. For example if you are thinking how tired you are today, immediately catch yourself and affirm that you have enough energy to last throughout the evening.

Adversely, I’ve also  noticed that being optimistic irritates people who are pessimistic. Funny, right? But it’s true, I once had a co-worker who had a hard time coping with the simplicity of happiness. One day she came into work, all down from the night before and in a disgruntled tone she asked me, “Kim, why are you so happy all the time?” I simply smiled and said, “Because I chose to be.” Deep down I was thinking, that was the biggest disgruntled compliment I’ve ever received!

How you choose to think your thoughts is completely up to you, for me, it’s just more life-fulfilling to think positive thoughts than negative thoughts.

This is the power of the mind choosing to think only good thoughts. We often hear that our thoughts help to create our lives.

  1. I love this message Kim. Especially the part about the co-worker. “why are you always so happy?” LOL and your answer was awesome. Because I *chose* to. that’s crucial, we chose our attitude and how we react to thing so much more than the things that happen to us. Great advice and welcome to the challenge #30DBC

    1. Hi Sheri,
I admit, it isn’t easy at first. Try and take it really slow at first by being present in the moment & that way you’ll realize exactly what you’re thinking at any given moment. Then you’ll know if you are choosing positive or negative thoughts. Be the master of your own mind. After awhile, you’ll begin to notice that positive thoughts will change your life.

  2. So true–it’s a choice. That is empowering and scary all at the same time! By the way, have you “redecorated”? Nice look! (Maybe it has been this way for awhile. I am so unobservant sometimes!)

  3. You hit the nail on the head, Kim. I’m often surprised at how many people don’t realize the kaleidoscope of choices they have each and every day, nor do they recognize how many of their circumstances are the results of their own decisions. I choose to be happy, too. High 5’s!
