Be Free of Worries



Hi all!

As June comes to an end, I’m reminded that half the year is over! How are those resolutions coming along? =)

I was thinking about our worries the other day and I thought, a lot of us can easily get carried away with our everyday worries. Our minds begin to think of one worrying thought, and then it just builds and continues until we are distracted by another thought.

Sometimes we have to just have to stop that traffic in our heads and abruptly say, “STOP!”

Is this even worth worrying that much about?” I know I find myself in that situation and it’s freeing to just be able to slow your thoughts down and say, “This too will pass.” That’s how I get through my worries of the week.

Here are some tips to stop those worrying thoughts:

  1. Take control of what thoughts you are thinking by placing the actual thoughts that you want in your head.
  2. Create a thought-reminder such as a small item, a notification on your phone or a sticky note on your desk that brings you back to the present moment that you are in.
  3. Be more grateful for where you are and what you are doing.
  4. Inhale deeply and with each exhale, release each worry.
  5. Meditate and clear you head of the thoughts, even for just 5 minutes.

I particularly like this part in Eckhart Tolle’s book, The Power of Now, it says, “Your mind is an instrument. It is there to be used for a specific task, and when the task is completed, you lay it down. As it is, I would say 80 to 90 percent of most or people’s thinking is not only repetitive and useless, but because of its dysfunctional and often negative nature, much of it is also harmful. Observe your mind and you will find this to be true. It causes a serious leakage of vital energy.”

It goes on to say,

“The good news is that you can free yourself from your mind. This is the only true liberation. You can take the first step right now. Pay particular attention to any repetitive thought patterns, those old gramophone records that have been playing in your head perhaps for many years.”

I truly believe that we have to be in control of our thoughts and think further out into the future. If an abrupt event happens and leaves you are shaken, just think that this is only a lesson and that you have the power to bounce back from this event.

Be Able to Relieve Spinal Discomforts




Hi all,

This weekend, my mom shared this helpful video with me. It was shared to her by a friend and it visually shows fairly simple moves on reducing stress on the spine. I’m currently 25 years old but I have noticed pressure on my spine on several occasions.


Sometimes I feel as if gravity pushed down on the spine and sometimes, it just needs to stretch. I usually don’t mind it much but I have been looking for holistic ways to reduce the tension. Luckily, I ran across this video and I immediately headed to my yoga mat and tried these moves out. The results aren’t immediate but the simple exercises has relieved the tension on my spine.

For me, I just mimicked exactly what the man is doing in the video. However, I didn’t do that last move as I haven’t felt comfortable doing it just yet.


Here’s what the original except included: 

This video very good for relieving backaches and correcting bad spinal alignments from bad postures etc. I provided a simple English translation of the guide at the end of this writeout. The following guide is an excerpt from explanation given by demonstrator in the video and translated to English (by myself):
1st move: Lie flat on your back, bend knees and rotate lower body from side-to-side relaxingly without using strength or stressing the muscles. From time to time, pause and massage abdomen and waist to relieve tense muscles.
2nd move: Almost similar to 1st move, but rotate upper body together. Hands pointing about 45 deg downwards, cannot be straight down, or too high up. Make sure top of head, hips & feet always in contact with the ground when rotating, or else this exercise will not be effective. Again, relaxingly without using strength or stressing the muscles.This step helps to straighten the spine. If you are suffering from back discomfort, do 2nd step for longer time per session (continuously up to 2 hours no problem).** Please ignore the exemplary move where both feet were brought up to hip level and held onto by hands and body being rolled from side-to-side. This move is not in the routine, it was merely a demonstration.
3rd move: Lie flat on your back with arms raised slightly above shoulder level. Wiggle your hips up/down, your feet will look like they are in stepping motion. First do with toes up, and repeat. Then switch to toes down and repeat. Again, relaxingly without using strength or stressing the muscles. Those with bad spinal alignment will feel discomfort when doing 3rd move, it is suggested to spend longer period doing the 2nd move.
When the spine gets straightened slowly after multiple sessions, the discomfort during the 3rd move will go away.These few short moves will help a lot of people. I hope that you can share it out because somebody might be suffering much worse than myself and in need of guidance to relieve spinal related discomfort or pain. I’m thanking you on their behalf.

Be Able to Enjoy the Flower Moon


Hi everyone and happy Friday!

If you happen to catch Friday’s full moon, you would have see a huge Full (Flower) Moon. Based on it’s name, it means that all of nature’s beautiful flowers will abundantly bloom this month.

Some Algonquin tribes knew this full moon as the Corn Planting Moon or the Milk Moon (via FreePeopleBlog) Most gardeners will reap their harvest this time of the month as their crops are ready to by picked. Stories say that the flowers will grow under the moonlight and dance for the moon =) Also, it’s good to dig into the soil (with your hands) under the moon and reap for your harvests. The Almanac has the best planting facts if you’re interested

I celebrated with some spiritmind friends and we were able to take an outdoor labyrinth walk at my sweet friend, Kate’s house. She’s a true friend of nature, with a  great backyard filled with so many lovely plants, gardens, a huge labyrinth, a ceramic studio and so much more.

Be Able to Choose Your Thoughts

I wanted to do a reminder post about how important it is to think happier and uplifting thoughts.

So here are some quick do’s and don’ts for your thoughts:


thank others who are helping you.

repeat positive affirmations on a daily basis

encourage yourself by saying, “you CAN do it!”

look in the mirror and say nice things to yourself

put some of your earnings into tithing

read more uplifting books and articles


wake up with a complaint

judge others based on their looks

watch the news (it’s filled with fearful tactics)

blame your family for your short-coming’s

think small of yourself

There have been times when I would hear troubling stories from a friend or relative. At first, it’s hard to come up with the right things to say, especially when you know that they’re in such a vulnerable spot. I usually listen with an open ear and an intention that after all of this passes, only good will manifest into their lives.

For me, I usually say the truth and what I feel about the situation. Then I figure a plan of action which usually requires some affirmations and a change of thought pattern. Overtime, if they DO remember to choose positive thoughts, their life can become significantly better. It’s a habit that must be formed just as it is to brush your teeth every day. If you don’t do it every day, you’ll simply forget to do it.

Not being able to help or encourage someone is tough, especially if it’s a person that I know and love. However, I do believe in timing and that all realizations and mind-clarity will come at a certain time and place. For every person on this planet, certain situations can happen at any given time. We don’t have a specific timeline that shows when this or that will happen, but I do believe that we can shape those situations from being detrimental into a learning experience.

I am reminded every day that our thoughts literally unveil our future. I am an example of that because I saw how my life changed from thinking negative thoughts in the morning to positive thoughts in thoughts in the morning. Before, I’d wake up and the first thought was a either a complaint about having to wake up too early or how awful it will be at work that week. Those negative thoughts are immensely harmful for your own well-being and it lets the Universe know that you are unhappy, ungrateful and not deserving of the many blessings that life has to offer. So chose the better thoughts, always.

My thoughts and prayers go to the victims of the Oklahoma tornado and for all people suffering from natural disasters. Much peace to you and your loved ones and you’re in our thoughts.




Be Able to Use Feng Shui


Earlier this week, I had a conversation with a lady from work and she asked me if I followed the ideas of Feng Shui. Being an enthusiast of (Western) Feng Shui, I said, “YES!” Personally,  I’ve read (and continue to read) about Feng Shui since my college days and it’s something my mom and aunts have taught me at a young age. I do it around my house, rooms and office and it definitely works for me.

So she began asking me several questions and it led to an extensive conversation. I had to provide her with a disclaimer though – I told her I’m not an expert, licensed or magician  but I can make several suggestions for you.

Here are some questions she had for me that day:

Her Question: I want togetherness and closeness with my family, how can I do that?

Answer: My first thought was, “pray” and do a short affirmation about you’re family being in complete harmony and love. Then I exaplained that the family section is to the west-side of her front door of her house. I asked her what she had there and she didn’t have much that represented family, so I told her to place a happy picture of her and her family. Adding a live plant can also help because of it’s lush green color and the representation of life.

Her Question: There’s a sword near my husband’s side of the bed is that ok?

Answer: No, especially if it’s the love/romance/marriage side of your room. Swords mostly represent fighting, combat or violence and this isn’t what you want in your relationship.

Q: I don’t have room in my wealth section to add more things, what should I do?

Answer: Make room! Get rid of whatever is there and place the right items that go in the wealth section such as: a fish (or turtle) tank, bamboo plants, lucky Buddha statues, coins, piggy-banks (any representation for money or wealth for you)

Western or modern Feng Shui is the art of position certain pieces of furniture (or items) in a harmonious location either in your house, room or office. Think of is as placing items in particular sections of your house so that better energy can flow through. There are other types as well that go into detail and depth and it’s up to the individual to decipher which techniques are best for them.

Here are 5 basic Feng Shui tips you can do today:

1.  Clean the space: Energy needs to flow smoothly in your space and how can it do that if the room is messy and unorganized? Cleaning allows the good energy to flow smoothly, allowing you to have good opportunities and things to come into your life.

2. Throw Things Away: I learned recently that I cannot keep every momento and note from friends and family. Only keep meaningful things and toss the things you absolutely do not need. Getting rid of old items allows you to have new things in your life that may possess better energy.

3. Google the Bagua: The Bagua is an octagon where each side has a representation of your life. It has 8 sides that include: Your career, self-understanding, family, wealth, fame/reputation, love, children, travel/helpful people. In each of these sections you may place a specific item or furniture piece that relates to one of those sections. For example, on the love section of my bagua (in my room) I can put fresh flowers or pictures of my loved ones. Those items represent love and placing red items or items representing love, will ultimately bring more of that into my life.

4. Donate Stuff: Consider donating things you don’t need anymore such as old clothes that don’t fit, shoes, electronics that you don’t use or old magazines and books. Helping others and giving is another terrific way to increase better vibrations into your life.

5. Think Bright & Open: Open your shutters or blinds that you tend to keep close to let natural light come into your room. If you’re concerned about privacy, consider putting up light curtains that still allow the sunlight to come in. Open your windows once in awhile to let fresh air come in and circulate fresh, clean air into your room.

It’s not just a woo-woo thing, religious-based and doesn’t require buying new furniture, it just requires a bit of moving, tossing out and placing items in their respective places.

Be Able to Find Peace


Peace is something that we sometimes forget to give to ourselves and to others and what pain it may be to live without knowing peace. My heart of peace especially goes out to the Boston Marathon Explosions and I surround all the victims with love, light and healing. I’m definite that it’s hard to grasp what the victims and community have witnessed and it will take some time to heal their pain. Let’s continue to pray & bless them. 

Finding peace plain and simple comes from within ourselves. But what exactly does that mean and how on Earth do we begin to do that?

After reading and resonating with Buddhist teachings, self-development books and audios, I found that peace is easy to obtain when we’re emotionally and spiritually ready for it to come into our lives.

Here are 5 ways to allow peace to resonate with you everyday:

1. Accept things just as they are – Don’t try to change people or worry about  things you cannot control; surrender all your problems and worries to the Universe.

2. Quiet your mind – Either it be meditating or just listening to some peaceful sounds, each day it will give your mind some relaxation and clarity.

3. Be grateful – Peace comes to us when we are thankful for every single thing in our lives, including the good and the bad.

4. Lessen the gossip – Try to not  eavesdrop on the conversations next to you or get into family gossip. Those exact words you may say that are harmful may come back to you in some shape or form. So cut those conversations out of your life and only speak positive of other people.

5.  Affirm only positive sayings – Throughout the day, catch yourself whenever a negative thought comes in and change it with a positive one. The more happier our thoughts, the more happier we remain.

We owe it to ourselves to live in peace, love and harmony. We weren’t placed here to endure long periods of suffering and sadness  Our minds can always be changed when our thought patterns change.

Be Able to Cure Yourself


Hello all,

Hope you are all having a great week so far as March 2013 begins to come to a close.

Earlier this month, I had a friend telephone me one night with disquieting news; she had told me that she was diagnosed with stage one breast cancer. My heart melted and I was at a lost for words. To be honest, I was shocked because she’s literally the most jolly, positive and upbeat  person that I’ve ever met in my life. Every time we cross paths, she’s smiling, making up jokes and there’s never a day that she’s sad or upset. To have her in my life makes me very grateful and lucky to continually experience her presence.

The other day, I was very humbled and relieved when I visited her. Her uplifting spirit tricked me to believe that she wasn’t feeling an ounce of pain. Right there, I knew that her unique spirit and her healing come from a very powerful and positive source. From my interpretation, I think that she was curing herself through her own positive thoughts and beliefs. I know she prays often which helps her get through her situation and the way she beams rays of happiness and carries her positive attitude also tremendously helps her healing process. I know for a fact that if she didn’t have such a positive spirit, then her healing process would dramatically take a different toll. I admire her so much and would like to share her as a very motivating inspiration for people who are going through the same thing.

Here are some simple affirmations to healing yourself from any ailment or illness that you’re feeling:

I am healthy and full of life

Health radiates throughout my body always

Healthy foods and beverages are making my body stronger every day

My body is always radiating with goodness

My body loves being healthy

Each cell in my body is working in perfect condition

I love each bone in my body

I am full of life and love and happiness

I intend that by reading this post, you can begin curing your own physical problems by addressing it from within yourself. Ask yourself what is causing this dis-ease or what have you been avoiding that has brought this experience into your life. Then when you can find that answer, address it and ask for help. Once you’re ready, you can release it to the Universe and continue on your well-deserved healthy life. You deserve to life a healthy and full life!

To all of you who have overcome cancer and those who have lost someone from cancer, I am very thankful for you and your strong spirit. Bless you!

Be Able to Relax

Hi everyone!

Isn’t the lavender just nice to look at? I think it’s one of the most low-maintenance, easy plant to grow and this batch (that I bought a couple of years ago) was not afraid to spread out.

This weekend, I wanted to do relax and just unwind. So I went to Bath and Body Works and I bought a lavender/chamomile pillow spray from the Bath & Body Works Aromatherapy Sleep collection.  I’ve used a different scent before and it was just amazing. It’s such a pleasant scent to breathe in right just before bed. These little things can definitely soothe you into a better state. Depending on your liking, there are many ways to relax yourself in an affordable and easy way straight from your own home. We don’t necessarily need to go to the salons or massage places; we can start small and affordable at home.

I think we all need to pay special attention to our physical bodies every so often. It doesn’t matter if you’re male or female, I think our physical bodies all deserve some tender love and care every now and then as a reminder that it is loved.

Why we need to relax:

Sometimes we get very busy with all the responsibilities of everyday life that we forget to take care of our true means of operations – our body (our temple). Even though we push through tired times, our bodies are in dire need of rest and relaxation, even if it’s only for a few minutes. As our bodies relax, we become livelier, happier and have an overall uplifting state of mind.

Some easy ways to relax yourself:

-Being able to even shower a little longer and enjoy the water-like therapy from your shower is a easy and great way to relax your tense muscle.

-Natural oils such as eucalyptus, peppermint, lavender and chamomile are relaxing and soothing scents that agrees with your body. You can obtain these oils in your nearby farmer’s market, organic grocery store (Such as Whole Foods or Bristol Farms), or at a health store.

-Grab some leaves off of a lavender plant (see above photo) and rub them with your fingers, the smell is very relaxing and natural.

-Rubbing some Vicks vapor rub below your nostrils is also relaxing and lets you breathe easier.  

-Sit down with cup of tea and clear your thoughts soothe your temples by places some drops of peppermint oil on it.

-Rub some lavender or chamomile, eucalyptus lotion on your hands and breathe in deeply. It will help you relax and the moisturizers from the lotion with smooth and soften your hands.

Be Able to Take in the Good

There are events that happen to us out of nowhere that can bump us out of our happiness path. We typically aren’t ready for it and it comes at an unpleasant time. This even personally happened to me this past week and it wasn’t easy.  In a nutshell, my former colleague who has tremendously helped me a lot this past year was treated unfairly this past week. It especially hurts when you’ve become so close and admire that person you work with, so it’s hard to pinpoint as to how you begin to digest the whole process.

After hours of thinking, I had to get back on my path of happiness and peace. Therefore, I began with my thoughts by taking in all the good that this experience has brought me. I came up with several positive outcomes that this event has taught me which in turn has helped me a lot.

Taking in the good from a good or bad experience is something positive that we can get into the habit of.  Instead of only seeing the bad in a particular situation, we can also see the good in it. The lessons we learn and the experience we gain throughout our lifetime is priceless and no one can take that away from us.

Being optimistic about a negative situation also helps a lot. Adversely, don’t be afraid to feel the pain that a negative situation comes with. We are human and we often can’t hide how we really feel, so express those feelings and get back on the happiness path. In the long run, our positive mindset with bring us so much further than our negative beliefs.

Here are some positive affirmations to allow the good in any situation (Inspired by Louise L. Hay):

I am at peace and the Universe loves me.

I am divinely protected.

I surrender my worries and problems to the Universe.

All is well. Everything is working out for my highest good. Out of this situation only good will come. I am safe.

The Universe knows my every need and provides me with it at the right time and the right place.
